The rescue cat, just sits and stares, its home the streets, have been its lair,
It isnt fair, the owners didnt want him there, he did his best, to kill the pests, the mice and rats, into the owners flat, a prize to gain, instead a shame,
now homeless, he sits and stares, in the cages,of the carer, waiting for someone, to spare a thought, he can easily be taught, to lay next to the hearth, and also wait for you on the path, and purr at you, to say thank you, a new lease of life,
Give me a chance, his big eyes plead, a home of my own, is all i need

I have a rescue cat, and he is just so gorgeous; it brings a lump to my throat to read your poem and realise he was once like that himself!

That was SO depressing. And true. But I'm glad to say both my moggies are rescue cats and I don't mind the occasional *gift* it puts in my husbands' shoe!

Who could say NO to that face? Well someone did. We rescued her and Jet has rewarded us with her love. She is so sweet and very loving but on her terms as is only right. I love your poem.
