Hi Mel this one is tricky I don't want to upset anyone.
As pagans we don't believe in Satan. Satanism was believed to have grown up as a rebellion against a very harsh Christien church. I personally think it was cerated by the church as an a way of instilling fear into the population so that they could be more easily controlled.
In so doing the Church seems to have started an brekaway religion because some followed it. Magic is magic and many satanists practice magic. I have met a few of them and they seem reasonable people. I don't know to much about their beliefs I will see what I can find.

I happened to be browsing the net today and came across satanic witches. There is even a satanic bible. So...that is why I asked.

Satanists as a whole aren't that bad, they simply believe in Self over Others. Below I've posted the satanic laws.
1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

The reason that the church invented the devil, was to scare the masses into their beliefs, so they took the pagan God Herne, the horned god and made him the devil.....They fail to mention that Lucifer is a fallen Angel and that nowhere in the old testament does it say he is the antichrist...Satanists are not devil worshiping fiends that go about sacrificing virgins and small children, like B, said, they don't even believe in him....And Elle, those rules sound pretty fair to me...The church amazes me really, they stole pagan customs, Incorporated them into their religion and then persecuted pagans, for worshiping the same thing....I wonder if the many Christians that go to church on a Sunday really know that their church is probably built upon a pagan sacred site,or within their church they probably have the green man watching down on them from the cloisters, try telling them this and they wont have any of it...V..xx..

Verminda- The church explains that the only reason that there are similarities between christianity and paganism is the result of diabolical mimicry, ie, the devil anticipated the coming of Jesus and sent other prophets to proceed Him, so to confuse devout christians. Utter bollocks. I've found 90% of christians have no idea why they believe what they do, the last time I went to a church (when visiting my best friend) the preacher welcomed me with a huge sermon of the evils of paganism....while a cornacopia was sitting on the pulpit beside him.

Just a warning, there are some satanists I've come across who try to apply a pagan sentiment, and some pagans who add a satanic element! I just had to say that some people I've come across worship Lord Lucifer in his 'Bringer of Light' aspect in partnership with the Goddess Diana as his consort... Sun and Moon kind of deal.
I never really got that, putting a Christian deity (which he is, anything you give incredible power in constant war with another deity is a deity in my book... kinda like Yahweh is the Oak King and Lucifer is the Holly King... oh blasphemy! I like the feeling!!!) into the pagan context to make it seem like the practioners are less peed off with Christianity.
I've met a few satanists and the nice ones are the ones who make no bones about their faith, they said they believe Lucifer is an ok guy, but Yahweh is a bit of a grumpy old man and didn't like someone stepping on his toes so he cast him out. Someother Satanists are going along the lines of a book I came across once in a shop but never read that says that Lucifer isn't the ultimate evil guy, hes the one angel that Yahweh trusted the most to spend existence away from him, and to do the job well of testing his humans.... so basically Lucifer isn't the bad guy, hes on a mission from God... I think that book was called God's Gladiators, but I'll have to think!
Yeah the Satanic Bible is by Anton LeVay, I'm not interested in reading it, I can't resonate with anything in the Christian faith anymore and old Lucifer and his worship is included... gimme my Horned Hunter any day!!
As for the diabolical mimicry, elle speaks the truth, I think it was St Justin it first popped up in, have to check my books! Basically the devil went back or anticipated the coming of Yahweh's messiah and made all different civilisations around the area that Christianity grew out of have stories about other gods being born in exactly the same circumstances... check out the birth stories of Dionysius. In the ruins of Aphrodisias in modern day Turkey, there is a mosaic which when confronted with, Christians say 'AH, the nativity!' until you read the greek inscriptions and where it should say Jesus/Jeshua it says Dionysius... lots of red faces when they get told that according to my old professor!

There's a lot of dogma in any religion, a lot of poorly construed perceptions seem to materialize.
I think you will find many people breeching one religion and from another. Much to the dismay at the later's own religious beliefs, LOL! Even though it should be seen as flattering.

Verminda remainds me of myself when I was really P.O.ed with Christianity. I still get upset about the way they push their dogma, but I try not to. AG-. It's not flattering when they take all your best philosophers and hijack them, burn your books and just generally kill or manipulate anyone who disagrees. After a thousand years of them saying it's so, people believe it. I think it's scary.

Satanists have been stealing, burning you books and killing you people for thousands of years? j/k.... yeah there is always that aspect. Yeah don't you love humanity? It's never really changed has it? You've proven me wrong. I was in general talking about pagan-to-pagan.... non christian to non christian. Satanism is the reverse of christianity essentially... everything is within you.... instead of nothing is within you. but then... even that is misconstrued by both christians and satanists. Oh sometimes the real secret gets buried too well by those people meaning to kill and manipulate, ya know? I see your frustration with it Elle, point well taken andI really do understand that.
