The best and worst thing about pagans is that you could ask a question of 100 people and get 100 different answers. So, these are the ethics that I stick to, you can feel free to disagree or disregard them, but I ask you to at least consider them.
THE RULES
1. Be competent. Whether you're using visualisation, herbs, gems, incense or whatever aim to understand your subject forwards, backwards and sideways. People who come to you will assume you know what you're doing, if you damage that trust, you have zero to no chance of helping them.
2. Reimbursement is one thing but aviod charging for healings, it cheapens your gift and aside from the ethics there are legal ramifications for practicing medicine without a license.
3. Never heal someone against their will. Not only does it invalidate their right to choice, but puts you in the position of thinking you know what's best for someone else. (There are other religions available more than willing to presume like this, but it's not for pagans.)
There are instances when someone is unable to give consent, for whatever reason. It's a judgement call at that point if you honestly think they would object.
4. If you're using a method that involves ingestion you have the responsibilty of knowing what that herb, etc is going to do. ie. Some herbs are fine unless your patient is pregnant or nursing.
5. If you use visualisation, always ground after the healing, especially if you have touched them.
6. Sometimes people can't be helped for one reason or another. In this case, don't try to heal, give comfort and peace.
