So! What kind of music does one listen to when looking for creative inspiration? This question actually isn't just based on storytelling, but I think also for those that write rituals.
What do you listen to?
I personally listen to a lot of Loreena McKennitt when writing fantasy style sotries. I also listen to a TON of movie sound tracks.
I should also note, that I tend to stick with music that is mostly wordless (With the exception of L.M.). Otherwise I tend to concentrate on the words.

Loreena McKennitt is a favourite of mine as well - also Sarah McLachlan... but when I'm writing I normally go for lyric-free stuff or I lose concentration!

If music be the food of love .................... You get the picture. If I am writing a tale I prefer silence bar the words in my head or the song of birds best of all is wind in the trees.
If I want something else done then anything goes. Hey I am having all sorts of fun raising energies from music just need to find the right sort to drive hours on the motorway soon!

Persephone, great choices!
Spiritually and emotionally I love Loreena McKennitt, especially the non-lyrical ones that she has done - just listening to Tango to Evora, my that makes me want to weep, so beautiful...
Sarah McLachlan though - hmmm - Fumbling Into Ecstacy *winks* - need I say more - most of her music gets me a bit like that!
And how could I forget my Waterboys, I love them! Oh and James - some of their lesser known stuff is the stuff of dreams - Tim Booth has the mind of a slightly troubled genius!
*realises she went slightly off tangent - its was the mention of Sarah McLachlans music that did it*
Back to the topic in hand - if I'm writing or creating then I have a couple of CDs that I use for work, non-lyrical, trance inducing - thats normally how I write
I just love music of all kinds - being empathic though I have to be very careful what I listen to - it can have such a profound effect on me.

Very similar with me Goldmother. Sometimes I find I listen to certain music to "tune-in" with someone.
I can't listen to lyrics either when writing ... I get way to disconnected from what I am doing.
I see images, scenes of all kinds when listening to certain music. You may find over time, that I write scenes (scattered and most don't fit together with others) based on what I hear.
Call it a sound track if you will. Hence I listen to lots of sound tracks! hopefully my scenes don't mimic the movies LOL!
