i've got two pets, a cat and a chinchilla, but in my opinion my cat is also my familiar as he does occasionally join in my rituals and other things. when it comes to chinny though, she's just my pet, nothing more, nothing less. there is a distinction because i would say i was more closer to my cat then the chinchilla and it is like we are connected. its really weird and hard to explain but its like we both knew eachother in another life once well thats what i've picked up so far .

My cat is my familiar. She nearly always joins my circle, if only to try to ignite her tail YET again. My son has another cat and my husband has a dog. I just don't have the same relationship with them as I do my kitty, although I love them very much. She sits on my shoulder and snuffles my hair when I sit at the computer and sleeps on my pillow at night.

I currently have 2 dogs. My wife HATES cats for the most part. My 2 oldest children adore cats as much as I do. I would consider my dogs truly pets, as well as most of my cats I've had in my life. However, I have had one cat in particular that was truly my familiar. Anytime I was doing anything remotely mystical, she was there. When I got older and moved away to college, she would disappear from my folks' place on Sunday night after I left and would not return until late on Friday afternoon. When I drove up, she'd be waiting on the front steps. She would be my constant companion until I left on Sunday when she would again disappear. She seemed to absolutely crave the energy I would give off during certain times.

My dear cats are my friends, my family, and my familiars. I think the world of them!
