I won't be doing much veg this year because the soil is so bad it need lots of 'doing up' before it even sees a vegatable! Another reason is Hubbie is planning to demolish the whole area and start again - errr HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!! ;D

Bulbs have made an appearance and some buds are starting to show on some of the bushes. I will not be clearing the leaves until it is warmer and that could take up to April. I have two plants that need moving and that will have to done quite soon if we can get a fork into the ground without too much trouble. The ground is so dry it is like trying to dig concrete. I may have to soak the ground first before I dig just to soften it up a bit.

My minature irises have bloomed! It's official! Winter's over!!! We're in the midst of digging new veg plots, for the last couple of years we'd either had them planted in the border or in a smallish raised plot at the back. It's taking some serious effort though, we're putting in a grid type path with reclaimed driveway slabs that were given us.

Well, I'm pleased for you. The weather here has been reasonably warm. I had the driveway cleared of snow, the melt put about an inch of water on it. With the snow on the road, walks etc, it had no place to go. Today it's down to -10C, the drive way is a sea of very smooth ice...AHHH YIA YIA YIA YIA On the other hand, it was warm enough that the snow melted off my front flower bed and I was beginning to think things might be possible soon. Unfortunately the only buds are those from the cat next door

Well I have now the daffs in bloom and some more buds on the trees! Thankfully the husdband has put of demolishing the area for a while so might get some beans and sweetpeas together so to improve the soil and make it look nice!
